Job duties/responsibilities \* Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children \* Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers \* Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest \* Order supplies and equipment \* Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records \* provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity \* Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits \* Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties \* Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor \* Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act \* Knowledge of licensing regulations \* Establish guidelines for behaviour \* Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members \* Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children \* Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children \* Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children \* Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours \* Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator Qualifications/Skill requirements \* Nova Scotia ECE Level 1,2, or 3 classification \* Up-to-date Clear Criminal Records check and Vulnerable sector check \* Up-to-date Clear Child Abuse Registry Check \* Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C \* Comfortable with all age groups (Infant, Toddler, and Preschool) \* Ability to work in a team \* Ability to work in a busy and noisy environment \* An open-mind and positive attitude Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $25.61-$32.19 per hour Benefits: * On-site parking Education: * Secondary School (preferred) Licence/Certification: * NS Classification Level (required) Work Location: In person
