This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day transactions, and supporting month-end activities. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment. *Key Responsibilities* *Accounts Payable & Receivable* · Process and record vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments accurately and on time. · Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice coding, payment runs, customer billing, and collections follow-up. · Maintain organized vendor and customer records, ensuring all documentation is complete and properly filed. *Reconciliations & Record Keeping* · Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations. · Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, escalating complex issues as needed. · Maintain accurate and audit-ready supporting documentation for all transactions. *Month-End & Reporting Support* · Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, working papers, and financial schedules. · Prepare cash summaries, aging reports, and other internal financial records as requested. · Support the preparation of HST/GST filings and assist with audit requests. *Administrative & Compliance Support* · Handle financial information with confidentiality and in accordance with company policies. · Communicate professionally with vendors, project teams, and internal departments to resolve accounting matters. · Provide general administrative support, including filing, scanning, data entry, and document control. Qualifications & Requirements *Education* Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. *Experience* Minimum 3 years of relevant Canadian accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting support. *Technical Skills* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filters, and pivot tables. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or an ERP system is an asset. *Knowledge* Working knowledge of standard accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping. Familiarity with HST/GST is an asset. Core Competencies We are looking for someone who: · Has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in accuracy. · Is highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. · Demonstrates ownership of assigned work and follows through to completion. · Communicates clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. · Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment. · Is proactive and eager to learn, with a positive team attitude.
